Health IT tip of the day: HIT success is evolutionary, not revolutionary

Contrary to conventional wisdom, consensus will grow out of adoption, not the reverse.

John Kelly, principal business advisor at Edifecs in Bellevue, Wash.: The HIT landscape is littered with big projects trying to herd cats. If you have a great idea, get a trading partner, do a science project, show somebody else. If all agree it looks good, re-engineer it to be enterprise-ready. Convince a second trading partner to implement and suddenly you will find yourself with a competitive advantage and an emerging standard. Don't be limited by the mandate mentality. Like the logo says: "Just do it".
