Google is also looking for a director of U.S. healthcare strategy and program management. Google Health, led by David Feinberg, MD, focuses on improving access to healthcare and information about healthcare. The company is using artificial intelligence to diagnose cancer, predict patient outcomes and prevent conditions such as blindness; it is also exploring tools that can improve patient care.

In 2019, Google added ONC national coordinator Karen DeSalvo, MD, to its team as chief health officer, responsible for advising Google on providers, physicians and nurses. While the company isn't currently planning to develop its own EHR, it does aim to provide better functions such as the search function to integrate within the EHR for data entry.
