New hires include:

  • Ben Laurie, founding director of the Apache Software Foundation and former Google software engineer
  • Tony Corkett, former Department of Health executive and NHS Trust IT director
  • Andrew Eland, former Google Maps team leader
  • Will Cavendish, PhD, former NHS employee who worked in online booking and prescription services
  • Cathy Harris, former GE Healthcare executive

They will all work with DeepMind cofounder Mustafa Suleyman, leader of the DeepMind Health unit, and Dominic King, PhD, DeepMind Health’s clinical lead.

DeepMind, which is hoping to expand its work with the NHS, had less than 100 employees when Google acquired it in 2014. It now employs more than 250.
