Global Medical Device Connectivity Market to Hit $33.5B by 2017

The global medical device connectivity market is expected to reach $33.5 billion by 2017, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 37.8 percent, according to a report from Transparency Market Research.

Wired technology accounted for 40 percent of the market in 2012, though wireless technology is expected to experience significant growth through 2017 and beyond, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and wireless medical telemetry service-enabled devices.

Hospitals were the largest purchasers of medical device connectivity technology in 2012 and are expected to remain the largest purchasers throughout the forecast period.
