Monica Healthcare, a 12-year-old private company, develops wearable wireless fetal monitors for midwives, labor nurses and expectant mothers at roughly 1,000 sites across North America, Europe and Asia. Its mission is to improve obstetric care and the birthing experience.
GE Healthcare has been Monica Healthcare’s North American distribution partner for its Novii Wireless Patch System since 2015. The patch, meant for single-patient use, monitors maternal heart rate, fetal heart rate and uterine activity through Bluetooth wireless technology.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
