Futurist Thornton May wrote June 27 in CIO that he asked a group of executives for the adjectives they would use to describe a successful IT chief, and they responded with these 21 (listed in alphabetical order):

"As a futurist I like to think that the true secret sauce of CIO success lies in being able to collaboratively craft a narrative describing a better future," Mr. May wrote. "I believe CIOs need to have a vision of what can be."
