Epic to Share Source Codes With OHSU Researchers

Epic has partnered with Oregon Health & Science University in Portland to create two laboratory environments of EpicCare at OSHU for research into biomedical and health informatics.

The research environments, which include researcher access to Epic's source codes, will allow investigations into data analytics, simulation, interoperability, patient safety and other related topics. They will also allow researchers to develop and test informatics solutions to healthcare delivery problems.

"We see this partnership with OHSU as a great way to accelerate the optimization of electronic health records," said Bret Shillingstad, MD, a clinical informatics physician at Epic, in a news release. "Once the environments are established, Epic and OHSU will assist other Epic academic customers in establishing similar laboratory environments for their programs."
