Epic's Limerick app offered for Apple Watch; McKesson to cut 1,600 jobs; Cerner campus construction forges on — 11 health IT key notes

1. San Francisco-based McKesson is eliminating nearly four percent of its U.S. workforce, which equates to nearly 1,600 jobs, in an effort to reign in costs.

2. A new app from Epic extends the functions of the MyChart app to the Apple Watch.

3. Oscar Health, a New York-based unicorn health insurance startup, has recruited Alan Warren, former vice president of engineering for Google, as its new senior vice president and chief technology officer.

4. Stephen Gillett, previously the CIO of Starbucks for four years, has taken on a new position with Google's X lab, the technology company's research and development lab.

5. When it comes to the performance of health information exchange vendors, Epic was deemed by users to have high performance and a strong outlook for upcoming interoperability needs.

6. Morris Heights Health Center, a patient-centered medical home in New York, implemented eClinicalWorks' EHR.
