The agreement allows Epic to offer licensing of Mediware’s HCLL Transfusion blood bank management system in combination with its Beaker laboratory solution. Clients can license and use Mediware’s technology and its own system in a single package, helping to streamline laboratory and blood bank systems purchases.
Mediware President and CEO Thomas Mann noted that clients often buy laboratory and blood bank solutions together. Several healthcare organizations have integrated the Mediware and Epic solutions, such as University of Wisconsin Health in Madison.
“This agreement provides them [the option to buy a blood bank solution] when purchasing Epic’s Beaker,” said Mr. Mann.
