Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes requests records from WSJ, FDA’s probe

Elizabeth Holmes, founder and CEO of the now-defunct Palo Alto, Calif.-based blood testing startup Theranos, filed a motion in federal court on April 15 to obtain records of the communications between The Wall Street Journal and the FDA and CMS, according to Reuters.

In the motion, Ms. Holmes reportedly claimed that prosecutors have refused to turn over thousands of records from the FDA and CMS, both of which launched investigations into Theranos based on information obtained by the Wall Street Journal‘s John Carreyrou.

The motion is the latest update in the ongoing case against Ms. Holmes and former Theranos President and COO Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani. In June 2018, they were charged by a grand jury with 11 criminal felony counts linked to what prosecutors say were fraudulent claims about Theranos’ technology.
