Tallahassee (Fla.) Memorial HealthCare completed its Epic EHR transition in early March.

The health system invested $234 million in the installation to align with industry leaders, improve quality care and streamline operations. The EHR will provide real-time access to medical information and support personalized treatment plans.

“By adopting the Epic system, we are enhancing how we manage patient information, improving workflow efficiencies and ultimately ensuring our patients receive the most accurate and timely care possible,” said Mark O’Bryant, president and CEO of Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, in a news release.

TMH spent years preparing for the transition and provided extensive training to all team members. Patients are now able to schedule appointments through MyChart and further engage with their providers. The EHR will also allow the health system to scale operations and integrate new technologies quickly.

“Epic is an essential tool in advancing our mission to provide exceptional care and service to the Tallahassee community,” said Don Lindsey, CIO of the health system, in a news release.

Epic has the largest market share of acute care hospitals in the U.S., according to KLAS, and more are making the switch. Earlier this month, New York-based health systems Cayuga Health and Arnot Health completed their Epic EHR transition. Epic has also been hard at work upgrading their EHR with AI agents, which can identify gaps in care to proactively reach out for appointments and foresee hospital capacity bottlenecks.
