Milwaukee-based Froedtert Health has agreed to pay a $2 million settlement after a patient-led lawsuit accused the health system of sharing patient data put into MyChart with Facebook, Milwaukee Business Journal reported Aug. 7. 

Here are three hospitals and health systems switching to Epic Systems in 2023, as reported by Becker's since Aug. 2:

Staples, Minn.-based Lakewood Health System will go live with its Epic EHR system on Aug. 13,  Brainerd Dispatch reported Aug. 5. 

Epic gives its products short, fun names that make it simple to understand what they do, founder and CEO Judy Faulkner wrote Aug. 7.

Black Book Research ranked the top hospital EHRs for academic medical centers and their regional networks based on surveys of 18 performance indicators conducted between the second quarter of 2022 and the third quarter of 2023.

Administrative burdens such as EHR documentation cost U.S. healthcare $1 trillion annually, leaving hospitals and health systems trying to find ways to automate these processes for their staff.
