Oracle has launched a mobile tool aimed at helping healthcare providers access and update patient records — even in areas without internet connectivity.
The tool, Oracle Health Community Care, is a cloud-based mobile extension of the Oracle Health Foundation EHR. It enables nurses, physicians, therapists and other caregivers to view and update patient charts during home visits, at mobile clinics, or in emergency settings, regardless of network access, according to a June 17 news release.
Here are five things to know about the tool:
- The tool allows clinicians to download up-to-date patient data to a mobile device before leaving a facility.
- If connectivity is lost in the field, clinicians can continue documenting care. Updates are synced to the EHR once a connection is restored.
- For example, when a patient is discharged to home-based care, a nurse can retrieve records via Oracle Health Community Care, update them during the visit and automatically sync the new information with the master EHR once back online.
- The solution also integrates with mapping tools to help providers locate patient homes.
- Clinicians can document assessments, enter orders and note condition changes directly within the mobile platform.
