Miami-based Nicklaus Children’s Health System has begun transitioning its electronic health record system to Epic, with the implementation expected to be completed by summer 2027.
More than 5,000 physicians, nurses and staff across the health system’s three hospital campuses, as well as dozens of primary and specialty care clinics and outpatient centers, will use the EHR system to coordinate patient care.
According to a July 8 press release Nicklaus Children’s shared with Becker’s, the transition is intended to improve clinical care coordination, enhance the patient experience and make it easier to exchange information with other healthcare organizations that use Epic.
The health system said the implementation will replace multiple legacy or fragmented systems with a unified patient record.
