Ms. Adkins took a leave of absence from Cerner in January 2020 to focus on her campaign to unseat U.S. Rep. Sharice Davids, D-Kan., in Kansas’ 3rd Congressional District. Ms. Adkins lost the November 2020 election by about 10 percentage points, according to the report.
Ms. Adkins worked at Cerner for 15 years and told the publication it was her decision to leave the company.
“After a long and valuable contribution to Cerner over many years, [Ms. Adkins] will not be returning to the company in any capacity,” a Cerner spokesperson told the Kansas City Star. “We wish her well in her efforts to positively impact the Kansas City community in the years to come.”
