Along with the layoffs, the company plans to close 5,000 roles that have not been filled. In February, the company gave thousands of workers poor performance reviews, a sign of the coming layoffs.
“We expect to announce restructurings and layoffs in our tech groups in late April, and then our business groups in late May,” CEO Mark Zuckerberg wrote in a Facebook post. In a “small number of cases, it may take through the end of the year to complete these changes.”
After the latest round of planned layoffs, Meta’s workforce will be around 66,000, according to the report.
