The announcement follows a year of discussions on the partnership, which will aim to improve the spread of evidence-based cancer care in community health centers and facilitate inter-institutional learning.
More specifically, MSK will establish a site for clinical trials at Hartford Hospital, which will make state-of-the-art cancer trials accessible to Hartford-area cancer patients.
MSK will also collaborate with Hartford Hospital on other clinical and research areas through on-site observation, sharing of educational resources, and quality and outcomes research, according to a news release.
Moving forward, the pair plans to put similar systems in place at Hartford HealthCare’s other acute-care hospitals, recruiting a joint physician-in-chief, who will be on staff at MSK and Hartford HealthCare to oversee physician integration between the institutions.
