Among the new hires are CEO Daniel Graf, previously Uber’s head of product and Twitter’s vice president of consumer products; CTO Erik Albair, a Google Maps and DeepMind alumnus; Kane Sweeney, PhD, vice president of data science, formerly of Uber and Stubhub; and Dena Olyaie, vice president of marketing, who joined Mindstrong following stints at Facebook and Oscar Health.

These and other new executives join Mindstrong’s leadership team alongside the startup’s three founders, including Tom Insel, MD, former director of the National Institute of Mental Health and leader of Alphabet subsidiary Verily’s mental health team, and current “mental health czar” of California.

Mindstrong provides on-demand virtual care for patients with serious mental illness. Patients receive cognitive-based therapy and video-based medication management and monitor their mental health through an artificial intelligence-enabled smartphone app, which also sends automatic alerts and updates to care teams when necessary. Since its 2013 founding, the startup has raised more than $50 million from investors including Optum Ventures, Bezos Expeditions, the One Mind Brain Health Impact Fund and more.
