The American Medical Association has named Jennifer Goldsack senior vice president and inaugural leader of its Center for Digital Health and AI.
Ms. Goldsack joins the AMA from the Digital Medicine Society, or DiMe, a nonprofit she founded in 2019 and led as CEO, according to a Sept. 1 news release from the AMA.
Under Ms. Goldsack’s leadership, DiMe developed frameworks for evaluating sensor-based measures that have been cited by the FDA and European Medicines Agency. The organization also created the DiMe Seal, an evidence-based evaluation framework for digital health software that CMS recognizes as an on-ramp to its Medicare App Library.
The AMA and DiMe also recently launched a framework identifying five enduring responsibilities for physicians as digital health and AI evolve.
The AMA said its Center for Digital Health and AI launched last year. Since then, the center has released research on AI use among physicians and an international survey examining physicians’ use of wearable technologies and barriers to their adoption in patient care.
Before founding DiMe, Ms. Goldsack held leadership roles at the Clinical Trials Transformation Initiative, a public-private partnership co-founded by Duke University and the FDA. There, she led digital health initiatives and served as operational co-lead of the first randomized clinical trial conducted using the FDA’s Sentinel System.
