Kansas City, Mo.-based Children’s Mercy has been piloting Helen, a mobile app that routes nonclinical tasks to a dedicated concierge team.
The app allows nurses to submit requests that are routed to the concierge team, which can assist with tasks such as delivering supplies and preparing rooms for admission or discharge, all without pulling nurses away from critical care, according to a Jan. 15 news release.
The app was piloted across two inpatient units. With Helen, Children’s Mercy returned 75,000 minutes to nursing teams and gave nurses back one hour per shift.
The hospital plans to expand Helen to two additional floors in January, with a hospitalwide rollout planned for spring 2026, according to the release.
