Ten providers, including Advocate Health, Mass General Brigham, Mercy and Intermountain Health, have each used Microsoft’s solutions to document more than 1 million patient encounters since the start of the calendar year, Microsoft chair and CEO Satya Nadella said Oct. 28.
Mr. Nadella shared the milestone during Microsoft’s fiscal 2027 first-quarter earnings call. Microsoft did not name the other six providers.
The four named systems are Charlotte, N.C.-based Advocate Health; Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Health; Somerville, Mass.-based Mass General Brigham; and Chesterfield, Mo.-based Mercy.
Across its healthcare customers, Microsoft automated 30 million patient encounters in the quarter, up 70% year over year. Mr. Nadella said the technology is “helping clinicians spend less time on administrative work and more time with patients.”
The figure continues a steady climb. In July, Microsoft said it was on pace to automate more than 100 million patient encounters in calendar 2026, including 28 million in its fiscal fourth quarter. During that call, Mr. Nadella said Mass General Brigham had rolled out Dragon Copilot to more than 4,000 providers after a study found ambient AI reduced burnout by 21%.
Microsoft reported $92.3 billion in revenue for the quarter, up 19%.
