The EMR system was originally installed at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit in June but was brought offline due to software errors. In October, the hospital went back online and Henry Ford West Bloomfield (Mich.) Hospital began using the EMR.
The EMR system will be only temporary, however, because Henry Ford plans to purchase a new $350 million EMR system from a different company. Henry Ford will begin installing the new EMR in 2012 and expects all its hospitals to be operational with the technology by 2015.
