Fruita, Colo.-based Family Health West said it “swiftly detected and contained” an attempted cyberattack, with no evidence of data loss or encryption.

After discovering suspicious activity, the 25-bed critical access hospital initiated cybersecurity protocols, including forensic review, engagement with experts, and system isolation. The systems are being brought back online once they are verified as malware-free.

“Our top priority is protecting the sensitive information entrusted to us by our patients, staff, and community,” said Derek Biddle, senior director of IT at Family Health West, in an Oct. 28 Facebook post. “We’re taking a cautious approach as we confirm that all systems are secure and fully operational.”
