The department said it was made aware of technical issues within the portal on Jan. 6 and immediately took efforts to deactivate it, according to a Feb. 24 press release.
The glitch, which linked some users’ accounts, gave about 3,500 portal users access to 10,000 COVID-19 test results and patients’ personal information including names, addresses, dates of birth, email addresses and testing dates.
The incident, according to the department, is not hacking-related. There has also been no evidence indicating that the patient information has been misused.
