The FHIR technology enables users to retrieve and view the patient data contained in the CORHIO HIE. The HIE aims to improve population health management in the state via the technology. CORHIO developed the technology using funding from the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing.
The HIE also plans on expanding the types of patient information that are exchanged, such as including data on social determinants to health. The HIE connects more than 10,000 users and 61 hospitals.
