The Code Like A Girl Act (H.R. 3316), authored by Rep. Jacky Rosen, D-Nev., would establish two National Science Foundation grant programs to research and fund computer science programs targeted toward girls aged 10 and younger.
Ms. Rosen says it’s important to get more women in science, technology, engineering and math — fields the Commerce Department reports women only make up 24 percent of, according to The Hill.
“Given the ever increasing importance of computer science in today’s economy, it’s critical we find ways to break down barriers and level the playing field for women everywhere,” Ms. Rosen said in a statement to The Hill.
