In comments on the interim final rule that was published in July, the AHA recommended CMS adopt the complete set of operating rules developed by the Council for Affordable and Quality Healthcare’s Committee on Operating Rules for Information Exchange to maximize administrative cost savings. HHS estimates the two standards under the interim final rule will save $12 billion over 10 years by reducing the cost of electronic transactions.
The AHA also said CMS should formally name CAQH CORE the operating rule authoring entity for all medical transactions.
