CIO Bernie Rice: State-to-state IT leadership

Bernie Rice joined Jacksonville, Fla.-based Nemours Children’s Health System in 1999 as senior director of infrastructure. He was named CIO in 2008.

Nemours operates two free-standing hospitals in Florida and the Delaware Valley, as well as 45 primary and specialty care clinics across four states. Mr. Rice oversees the leadership and strategic direction of information systems throughout the entire health system.

In 2011, Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del., achieved HIMSS Stage 7 of the EMR Adoption Model, and Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando, Fla., received the same distinction in 2013.
