The three projects include:
1. VGo robot — VGo Robot is a videoconferencing robot that travels home with a child who has undergone urological surgery at Children’s and allows physicians to see the patient at home. The robots remain with the children for a two week period.
2. Physician virtual consultation — This program enables patients with a questionable mole or rash to take a photo and send it to a pediatric dermatologist at Children’s. This reduces the large backlog of patients trying to see a pediatric dermatologist.
3. Emergency room physician-to-ICU physician connection — This program allows video-enabled communication between a community hospital and Children’s physicians inside the intensive care unit.
The three pilots are being tested by Children’s, and the goal is to collect data on outcomes, according to the report.
