Johnson City, Tenn.-based Ballad Health has restored several software systems following an Oct. 29 disruption that prompted the health system to activate its corporate emergency operations center and implement downtime procedures across its facilities.

The disruption began around 9:30 a.m. ET, according to an initial statement Ballad Health shared with Becker’s. The health system activated its corporate emergency operations center at 11 a.m. to coordinate its response.

During the disruption, Ballad Health facilities and Ballad Health Medical Associates clinics followed established downtime procedures, and additional physicians and staff were called in to support patient care. All emergency departments remained open.

In an updated Oct. 29 statement shared with Becker’s, Ballad Health said it had identified and resolved the disruption.

“Our Information Technology team has restored the software systems quickly and safely,” the health system said in the statement.

Ballad Health said its facility and clinic teams would continue working directly with patients whose care may have been affected or interrupted.

The health system did not specify which software systems were affected or what caused the disruption.
