Apple ResearchKit-developed app studies link between lifestyle, Alzheimer’s

Researchers are continuing to use Apple’s ResearchKit as a backbone for app-based clinical studies. The latest is Mind Share, a multi-university collaboration aimed at studying user data to gain insights on links between behaviors, lifestyle and Alzheimer’s disease, MobiHealthNews reports.

Anyone can participate in Mind Share by downloading the app, which also takes into account medical history and uses questionnaires to track cognitive function. Ultimately, researchers hope to use their findings to create digital screening tools for individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia.

Recently, Boston Children’s Hospital developed Feverprints, an app aimed at learning more about fevers, using ResearchKit, and Cambridge, Mass.-based HarvardUniversity developed TeamStudy using the ResearchKit framework to better understand the impact of playing football on athletes.
