Five notes:
1. The event, which is the first of an ongoing series this month, featured presentations from celebrity fitness trainer Jeanette Jenkins, Apple Vice President of Health Sumbul Desai, MD, and the American Heart Association’s President-Elect Robert Harrington, MD.
2. Drs. Desai and Harrington revealed that the results of the Apple Heart Study — a joint research project between Apple, Stanford (Calif.) University School of Medicine and American Well — will be released at the American College of Cardiology meetings March 16.
3. Dr. Desai also noted that the study, which enrolled more than 400,000 patients, will investigate participant behavior in addition to population health trends.
4. Following the panel discussion on heart health, Ms. Jenkins led participants in a fitness walk to demonstrate the Apple Watch’s activity features.
5. Apple has scheduled three dedicated heart health events this month at stores in various locations, including New York and Chicago.
