The American Medical Association launched its Center for Digital Health and AI on Oct. 20 to embed physicians throughout the lifecycle of emerging health technologies.
The center aims to guide the development and implementation of artificial intelligence and digital tools in ways that align with clinical workflows and physician needs, according to an Oct. 20 news release from the organization. It will focus on policy advocacy, workflow integration, physician education and multi-sector collaboration.
Roughly two-thirds of physicians have incorporated AI-enabled tools into their practice, but one-quarter remain more concerned than optimistic about the technology’s future, citing risks related to data privacy, reliability and safety, the AMA said.
The center seeks to address these concerns by ensuring physician input in tech design and use, ultimately aiming to enhance patient care while reducing burdens on clinicians.
