AMA compiled insights from various healthcare and technology leaders shared at the HLTH conference in Las Vegas, Oct. 27-30.

Here are three insights on technology adoption within the healthcare space:

1. To avoid mistakes that occurred during the widespread adoption of EHRs, such as lack of interoperability and increase burnout among physicians, AMA is collaborating with Silicon Valley entrepreneurs and established its AMA Physician Innovation Network to get clinicians involved in technology developments.

2. Physicians assess whether they will use a new digital tool based on three factors: effort, outcome and financial impact.

3. When approaching innovation, healthcare leaders should seek situations where physicians are struggling and then draft up a technology-based solution.
