Alphabet posts $26B revenue in Q2 of FY 2017: 4 things to know

Mountain View, Calif.-based Alphabet, the parent company of Google, released its financial results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2017, which ended June 30.

Here are four things to know about the technology-focused holding company's financial results.

1. Alphabet posted $26.01 billion in revenue, up 21 percent from the same period in 2016.

2. The company's net income was $3.52 billion, compared to $4.88 billion one year prior.

3. Alphabet reported a 16 percent operating margin, a decrease from 28 percent one year prior.

4. The company's diluted earnings per share decreased from $7.00 in the second quarter of 2016 to $5.01.
