Veradigm — Allscripts’ payer and life sciences division that debuted in late 2018 — signed a memorandum of understanding with Microsoft to lead this exploratory effort. The collaboration’s first project will focus on integrating research capabilities into Allscripts’ cloud-based EHR, such as introducing functions that automatically match eligible patients with clinical studies.
The collaboration aims to accelerate the development of new therapies using Microsoft’s cloud and artificial intelligence capabilities to draw insights from real-world patient data held in Allscripts’ products. Future efforts will tackle developing new workflows and compliance frameworks that support clinical research organizations and pharmaceutical companies working with this new model.
