Chicago-based UI Health is implementing Abridge’s AI platform systemwide to support clinical documentation across its inpatient, outpatient and emergency care settings.
Abridge integrates with UI Health’s Epic EHR and is designed to reduce documentation burdens for clinicians and trainees, according to a Nov. 24 news release. The platform uses speech recognition technology that supports multiple languages, including Spanish, Arabic, Polish, and Mandarin and Cantonese Chinese.
UI Health, the academic health enterprise of the University of Illinois Chicago, serves a “linguistically diverse population of 1.4 million patients annually,” the release said. During a pilot, the system reported a six-point increase in Press Ganey scores measuring provider communication, improving from 91% to 97%.
The systemwide rollout is intended to ease clinician workflows and support more seamless patient experiences, according to the release.
