OpenAI and Anthropic are among the corporate sponsors of an upcoming summit organized by the MAHA Center, a nonprofit promoting HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Make America Healthy Again movement, Politico reported.
The Sept. 29 event is also sponsored by Walmart and companies involved in areas including psychedelic drugs, diagnostic technologies and peptides, according to the report.
Sponsors will attend a private dinner with summit speakers, including officials from the Department of Health and Human Services.
Healthcare industry leaders will also participate in the event. One panel will feature executives from UnitedHealth and Elevance Health, along with Mike Tuffin, CEO of AHIP, the health insurance industry trade group.
The corporate sponsorships have drawn criticism from some supporters of the MAHA movement, according to Politico. Scarlett Fang, who campaigned for Mr. Kennedy during his 2024 presidential run and volunteers for the California chapter of Children’s Health Defense, criticized the corporate involvement.
“This is the opposite of going against corporate capture. This is complete corporate capture,” Ms. Fang told Politico.
The MAHA political action committee has also received a large share of its contributions from a small group of entities. A Politico analysis of MAHA PAC filings from January 2025 through April 2026 found that nearly 90% of its donations came from 10 entities, five of which had ties to the drug industry.
