Charleston, S.C.-based MUSC Health is expanding agentic AI to boost scheduling, voice notifications and revenue cycle functions.
The 16-hospital system has been working with healthcare AI company Notable since 2021 but has extended its contract to add more automated workflows, which could include referral management and integrated scheduling.
“A successful partnership for MUSC Health goes well beyond technology; it also requires a deep understanding of healthcare operations and the ability to facilitate change management to drive the desired outcomes,” said Crystal Broj, chief digital transformation officer of MUSC Health, in a June 17 news release. “This expansion with Notable will continue to drive us forward in that transformation.”
The AI agents have already been checking in patients, addressing care gaps and completing prior authorizations at the health system. The technology has helped reduce no-show rates by 7.6%, increase digital intake for Spanish-speaking patients by 30% and collect about 15% of copays autonomously, Notable said.
At the Becker's 11th Annual IT + Revenue Cycle Conference: The Future of AI & Digital Health, taking place September 14–17 in Chicago, healthcare executives and digital leaders from across the country will come together to explore how AI, interoperability, cybersecurity, and revenue cycle innovation are transforming care delivery, strengthening financial performance, and driving the next era of digital health.
