Microsoft said its Dragon Copilot — which ambiently listens to patient visits and drafts clinical notes for the EHR — documented more than 17 million patient encounters last quarter, nearly five times the total from a year ago.

“More than 650 healthcare organizations have our ambient listening technology to date,” Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella told investors during the company’s Oct. 29 earnings call, according to a transcript published by The Motley Fool.

He added that the technology is being used by more than 1,000 physicians at University of Michigan Health alone.

The increase follows a July earnings call in which Mr. Nadella said healthcare customers used the tool to document more than 13 million patient encounters.
