Companies such as Amazon are deploying a new hybrid approach to AI that could be used in healthcare, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Neurosymbolic AI mixes the neural networks that power platforms like ChatGPT with symbolic reasoning, which uses logic and symbols for problem-solving, according to the Aug. 12 story. The technology can reduce the hallucinations that accompany generative AI.

Amazon released a neurosymbolic AI feature Aug. 6 called Automated Reasoning that it says minimizes hallucinations and checks the accuracy of generative AI with 99% success. The technology could be employed to authenticate AI’s outputs in healthcare, Byron Cook, PhD, a vice president and distinguished scientist at Amazon, told the Journal.

At the Becker's 11th Annual IT + Revenue Cycle Conference: The Future of AI & Digital Health, taking place September 14–17 in Chicago, healthcare executives and digital leaders from across the country will come together to explore how AI, interoperability, cybersecurity, and revenue cycle innovation are transforming care delivery, strengthening financial performance, and driving the next era of digital health.
