OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT, has released its latest State of Enterprise AI report, offering a detailed look at how organizations are adopting artificial intelligence, what employees say they’re gaining from the technology, and how leaders are converting early experimentation into measurable productivity and new capabilities.
The report, released Dec. 8, draws on two primary data sources: real-world usage patterns from OpenAI’s enterprise customers and a survey of 9,000 employees across nearly 100 organizations that examined how AI is being adopted in the workplace.
Healthcare emerged as one of the fastest-growing sectors for AI adoption, according to the findings. The industry joins technology and manufacturing as among the fields seeing the strongest momentum with the technology.
The report also found that 75% of workers across surveyed enterprises said AI has improved the speed or quality of their work. Employees reported saving 40 to 60 minutes per day, with heavy users saving more than 10 hours per week. The technology is generating value across departments, the report noted, and 87% of IT workers said it has helped resolve issues more quickly.
