Adventist Health System Data Breach Suit Thrown From Federal Court

A data privacy class action suit filed against Adventist Health System in Altamonte Springs, Fla., has been dismissed by a federal judge, according to a Main Justice report.

The suit, filed in April, claimed that patient data across the system had been compromised, according to the report.

The plaintiff invoked the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act to elevate the case to federal court, but the presiding judge ruled that HIPAA alone is not grounds to bypass state court, according to the report.
