Adventist Health launches electronic footprint scan for newborn security

Roseville, Calif.-based Adventist Health is rolling out new electronic identification technology for newborn patients at Adventist Health Bakersfield (Calif.), Bakersfield Californian reports.

The newborn safety system from CertaScan takes a high-resolution image of a baby’s footprint, which is the uploaded to the EHR.

The technology aims to replace the traditional ink and paper method used at hospitals to aid identification in the event of a newborn security issue such as abduction or natural disaster.
