The ONC’s most recent data shows that 76 percent of hospitals electronically exchanged information with outside providers in 2014. That’s a significant jump from 2013, when only 62 percent exchanged information outside their networks.
Some states are exchanging significantly more data than others. In Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Oregon and Georgia, more than 80 percent of non-federal acute care hospitals exchange information outside their networks. Other states, such as Mississippi, Nevada and Idaho linger in the 40 percent to 59 percent range, according to the ONC.
