70% of healthcare organizations say IT industry is destined for the cloud

Seventy percent of executives from healthcare providers agree that the information technology industry will continue to support the moving of on-premise software and data to the cloud, according to a Reaction Data report.

Reaction Data surveyed 242 C-suite executives and directors from various provider organizations, including community hospitals, academic medical centers and critical access hospitals, about their opinions on cloud technology.

Here’s how the survey participants responded when asked what they think about cloud technology:

1. It’s where the IT industry is heading: 70 percent.
2. Intriguing concept, but not ready for prime time: 14 percent.
3. Over-hyped: 10 percent.
4. Other: 6 percent.

The survey also asked participants what key aspects to consider when moving to the cloud. Respondents cited data privacy and security (29 percent), performance (26 percent), financial (21 percent), public cloud versus private (12 percent) and governance (12 percent).
