To compile the report, the ONC interviewed a varying number of hospitals and health systems in each state. The results give an indication of which states have the highest percentages of hospitals that have exchanged data with an outside provider, and which have the lowest.
States where the highest percentage of hospitals have exchanged data with an outside provider:
- Rhode Island: 100 percent (8 hospitals surveyed)
- Delaware: 100 percent (4 hospitals surveyed)
- Connecticut: 95 percent (17 hospitals surveyed)
- New Jersey: 93 percent (45 hospitals surveyed)
- New Hampshire: 92 percent (12 hospitals surveyed)
States where the lowest percentage of hospitals have exchanged data with an outside provider:
- Oklahoma: 38 percent (57 hospitals surveyed)
- Montana: 41 percent (28 hospitals surveyed)
- Mississippi: 42 percent (33 hospitals surveyed)
- Nevada: 43 percent (11 hospitals surveyed)
- Louisiana: 43 percent (44 hospitals surveyed)
