Washington’s Whidbey General Outsources 10 Jobs, Expects to Save $1.5M

Officials at Whidbey General Hospital in Coupeville, Wash., are outsourcing 10 transcriptionist positions this fall, which is expected to save $1.5 million over five years, according to a Whidbey News-Times report.

Hospital officials said Webmedx, the company taking over transcription for the hospital, offered the 10 employees who occupy the positions job offers to continue working as transcriptionists for them. The employees also get 60 days to continue their current jobs at the hospital, the report said.

According to the report, the hospital said technology has made significant changes to the medical transcription field, and most hospitals are outsourcing transcriptions.
