Raleigh, N.C.-based WakeMed has reached a three-year contract for UnitedHealthcare’s employer-sponsored commercial plans, effective Oct. 15.
WakeMed shared the update Sept. 17. The contract will grant members in-network access to hospitals, outpatient clinics and specialty physicians.
An archived page from WakeMed’s website showed it had gone out of network for these members, along with UnitedHealthcare’s Medicare Advantage beneficiaries, Nov. 15, 2025. The new agreement does not encompass MA.
The health system and insurer confirmed that WakeMed has remained in the Medicaid network for UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of North Carolina. Those with a Medicare supplement plan have also not been impacted.
