Marlton, N.J.-based Virtua Health’s credit rating was upgraded to “AA” from “AA-” by Fitch.
The upgrade reflects Virtua’s reduced credit risk with several years of strong and stable operating performance following its successful integration of Camden, N.J.-based Lourdes Health, Fitch said in an Oct. 10 report. Virtua acquired Lourdes in 2019.
Fitch said the upgrade also reflects Virtua’s manageable capital improvement plans. The rating is further supported by the system’s leading market position in a stable service area and continued outpatient expansion.
Virtua’s expanded academic affiliation with Glassboro, N.J.-based Rowan University will support the enhancement of several high-acuity service lines, Fitch said.
